You can watch my video comparing Hometex stuffing to Hopen stuffing here. Cheapest in the largest quantity option. It is the cheapest option when you buy it in the 5lb size, and it's from the US! But again, this isn't an issue once you get it in the plush. The textures and flavors of this rice flour are not suitable for Japanese sweets. It normally stuffed with sweet filling, such as sweetened red bean paste made from azuki beans. The rice is pounded into paste and molded into the desired shape. Mochi is Japanese rice cake made of mochigome, a short-grain japonica glutinous rice. There are rice flours made with long-grain ric e, but they are not great substitutions. We offer you a full range of Yuki & Love Brand Mochi rice cakes with different fillings. You can also buy it on Amazon Substitutions The best substitution for shiratamako is mochiko. It also has a LOT of the small little flecks of fiber throughout. Where To Buy You can buy shiratamako at Asian and Japanese grocery stores. It's still extremely soft but is more dense than the other 2 options. This is my least favorite option but still a solid one. My biggest issue is the price, as you can't buy it in bulk like you can with Hopen's, so it is more expensive per oz. This isn't an issue once you get it in the plush, though. It's extremely soft but has some small little flecks of fiber throughout (think like strands of a carpet).
